An important recognition that acknowledges our commitment to reducing our environmental impact and improving our environmental performance.

On Monday 14 July, we found ourselves— for a moment— to switch roles with our students!
After handing out numerous awards to our students, this time it was our turn to receive an important recognition that makes us particularly proud: we have been awarded ISO 14001 certification, which acknowledges our commitment to reducing our environmental impact and improving our environmental performance.

Riccardo Balbo, Academic Director of the IED Group, accepted the plaque in front of an audience of students and lecturers from the English language Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design at IED Milano, following the final presentation of the thesis project Arena 2030.

This was a deliberate choice that closely ties the award to the theme of the thesis project: the design of a green space using advanced materials and technologies, with the primary aim of encouraging virtuous behaviours and a more sustainable mindset, inspired by the choices of young designers.

It was yet another opportunity to remind the IED community how vital it is for the designers of tomorrow to think and design in a sustainable and responsible way.

The plaque was presented by Manuela Maffina and Tina Nardone, consultants from Ecoconsult, who have been supporting IED for years on its journey towards corporate certification. This journey has already led to the recognition of our teaching quality through ISO 9001 and will soon continue with ISO 45001, aimed at improving our performance in the prevention of injuries and occupational illnesses, with the goal of creating increasingly safe and healthy work and study environments.
