The project, together with Municipality of Milan, is part of Food Wave, to raise awareness, involve and activate young people against climate change and the nexus with food systems. Deadline: December 22nd 2022

ActionAid and IED – Istituto Europeo di Design, in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan, launch Foo[d]tures, open call for youth-led sustainable visions, a challenge dedicated to young creatives aged 18 to 35 who live in Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Belgium, Sweden, Spain, Slovenia, Greece, Hungary, Brazil, Croatia, United Kingdom, Portugal and France.

The objective of Food[d]tures is to activate virtuous practices able to generate connections between young people and communities, including the most vulnerable ones. In particular, the call is aimed at designing innovative products or services that reduce the environmental and social impact of the production, distribution and consumption of food, without forgetting the importance of solidarity and circularity. When presenting ideas, it will be particularly important to take into consideration the relationship between citizens and urban spaces, whether private or public. All interventions must have the Millennials and/or GenZ as their main target.

The contest – that will be rolled out in English - is open to young people who have an interest and/or educational/professional experience experience in disciplines such as web development, product-service system design, design (Product, Graphic, Interior, Communication, UX-UI, Media), marketing, finance, economics, philosophy, sociology or anthropology. The deadline to participate is December 22nd.

The proposals received will be evaluated by a qualified jury composed by industry experts, IED teachers together with representatives of ActionAid Italia and the Municipality of Milan. The ideas selected by the Jury will be further developed, prototyped and transformed into real projects thanks to training path facilitated by IED tutors and mentors, which will run throughout 2023 and will involve the young creatives together in multidisciplinary teams.

The three best teams will be awarded a prize up of 1,000 euros valid for the purchase of materials, study support tools or consultancy packages with IED professionals.
