Regenerative design to transform the historic Colònia Güell into a circular and sustainable ecosystem

CO-LÒNIA is a regenerative design project with the objective of transforming the historic Colònia Güell into a circular and sustainable ecosystem that responds positively to the environmental and social emergency.

To this end, it proposes several interventions: the regeneration of public space with actions aimed at reconnecting the city with nature and limiting the impact of human disruption; the implementation of sustainable mobility by improving public transport (bus on demand), introducing single-level streets, and promoting a bike bus and car sharing programme; highlighting the importance of heritage through the maintenance, restoration, recovery and proposal of new uses for emblematic spaces; access to a cooperative housing model that eliminates real estate speculation, and economic activation with a plan to develop local commerce (coworkings, a circular market, local food court, cooperative supermarket, etc.), among others.
