Thesis project by José Miguel Pimenta Filipe.
The project translates the final day spent by a group of young people at a summer villa into a series of costumes shaped by memory, tension and shifting relationships.
Focusing on four narrative perspectives, Mariana, Luísa, Joana and the boys, the project explores costume as a tool for revealing each character’s personality and emotional state.
Knitting, embroidery, pleating, dyeing and textile manipulation inform garments with a handcrafted, lived-in quality. Layered silhouettes and a palette of burgundy, green, ochre and brown evoke the intimacy of the villa and the memories formed there.
