Desastre explores the beauty that emerges from destruction, understanding accident, decay and imperfection not as an ending, but as the starting point for new possibilities. The collection proposes a perspective in which mistakes are no longer something to be corrected, but an essential part of the creative process.
Rather than portraying disaster as an exclusively negative event, the project investigates the processes of transformation left behind by crises on bodies, objects and landscapes. Marks, fractures and altered materials become archives of lived experience, creating a visual language in which every trace preserves the memory of what has changed.
This research is translated into a collection that experiments with deconstruction, eroded textures and unfinished finishes to create garments that appear to exist in a permanent state of transformation. Pattern cutting, volume and material manipulation all engage with the idea of reconstruction, demonstrating that fashion can also emerge from what seems to have lost its original form.
Desastre celebrates design's ability to find beauty in imperfection and meaning in change. A project that invites us to reconsider our relationship with failure, recognising that every act of destruction also contains the possibility of a new beginning.
