GAMAN is a women’s F/W 2026-2027 collection that explores the paradox between control and liberation, combining the art of shibari binding with the Japanese philosophy of gaman: the ability to endure adversity while preserving one’s integrity. The project transforms the idea of constraint into a manifesto of self-determination, building a wardrobe based on material, visual and symbolic tensions.
The collection works through sharp contrasts: nude, white and pink tones interact with deep blacks and reds, while oversized volumes alternate with close-fitting silhouettes, allowing the body to either conceal or reveal itself. Nylon organza, silk georgette and satin create transparencies and partial cuts, while leather and eco-leather, laces, buckles and metal eyelets reinterpret BDSM aesthetics as details of strength and pride. Heavy gabardine, knitted torchon, padded embossed cottons, asymmetries, knots and gathers create a structural tension that enhances parts of the body often perceived as flaws, inviting the wearer to reclaim their uniqueness with awareness.
The thesis project guides students in the development of a complete fashion collection, transforming cultural and narrative research into a professional and sustainable product. Through artistic, social and stylistic references, each student develops an original concept that translates into material research, experimentation with fabrics, colours, prints and embroidery. The path leads to the creation of an 18-outfit collection, supported by physical and digital prototypes, photo shoots and communication tools, enhancing the entire creative and production process of the contemporary fashion designer.
