A celebratory livery for the 25th anniversary of the Honda Jazz designed by students from the Undergraduate course in Graphic Design at IED Roma.

Starting from a brief developed in collaboration with Honda, third-year students of the Graphic Design course were asked to design an original graphic livery to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Honda Jazz. The project engaged the class in a visual experimentation workshop focused on reinterpreting the identity of the iconic compact car through the language of contemporary design.

Under the guidance of course coordinator Luigi Vernieri and lecturer Roberto Terrinoni, the work developed through a research and concept design phase aimed at exploring Honda’s brand values and the relationship between Japanese culture, technological innovation and visual imagination. This process led to several design proposals, each characterized by different graphic and narrative approaches.

Among the submitted projects, Honda selected the proposal by Elisa Vincenzi as the winning concept. The design draws inspiration from the symbolism of the koi carp, a central figure in Japanese culture associated with determination and the ability to transform. The metamorphosis of the carp into a dragon becomes a visual metaphor for the evolution and resilience that characterize the brand.

The selected project was then developed as a livery applied to the vehicle through a wrapping intervention, transforming the graphic proposal into a real-world installation on the anniversary edition of the Honda Jazz.

The project represents an opportunity for direct collaboration with industry, allowing students to engage with a real brief and with the processes involved in developing a graphic identity applied to automotive design.
