Digital memory accumulates endlessly, dispersing meaning instead of preserving it. Latent autobiography addresses this by applying Sol LeWitt’s methodological clarity to the disorder of pixels. If humans remember through subtraction, the algorithm organizes through logic: the entire personal archive is translated into numerical vectors (embeddings) and grouped by formal similarity. The result is a constellation of clusters that turns lived experience into spatial taxonomy. Within this strict diagram, memory shifts from inert storage to latent space: an algorithmic distance that restores form, rhythm, and identity to the white noise of the past.
The Searchlights is the second chapter of Ti vorrei dire, a three-year project developed in collaboration with Gallerie d'Italia - Torino, a part of Intesa Sanpaolo. The projects map out the urgencies of our time through the perspective of a new generation. Ecological and climate crises, dynamics of power and representation, identity, mental health, precarity, memory and narratives of the present run through the works, shaping a collective account that restores complexity to what is too often reduced to a label.
