Academic year

2024/2025

The Cariplo Foundation chose IED – Istituto Europeo di Design – to convey, through the perspective of the new generations, the value of research and of those who carry it forward.

Eleven students from the Photography course took on this challenge, creating a series of unconventional visual journeys dedicated to ten scientific projects. Through their lenses, they closely followed ten researchers, drawing inspiration from their daily dedication and telling stories of science and passion.

At the heart of this narrative is the “Young Researchers” grant, through which the Cariplo Foundation supports PhD holders in the early stages of their careers. Since 2014, this program has allocated around €50 million to over 200 projects, with the goal of nurturing the vision, talent, and skills of the new generations.

An investment that becomes knowledge and collective growth, and which today also takes the form of a visual story: the lives of researchers, their daily work, and their contributions to the future, seen and interpreted through the eyes of IED’s young photographers.
