IED professors and alumni will give lectures within the program developed in collaboration with influencers, media and the business world in Mexico
The conferences offered by IED will be:
1. “The dress as architecture of the skin”. New materials in Fashion
¿Can we learn from nature and apply it to our designs? ¿Can we integrate technology into our garment? ¿Is it possible to turn a dress into a space? We have been covering ourselves for thousands of years with different materials that we call fashion.. It will be taught by Raquel Buj Fashion Designer and Architect, Professor at IED Madrid.
2. “eMo-designing the spaces of tomorrow” will address and reflect on how in a massively digital and globalized environment, where artificial intelligence threatens to break into our daily lives, design must be the tool that connects the avant-garde with what makes us indisputably different from machines: emotion. It will be taught by Architect José Manuel Fernández Program Leader and Coordinator of the Master's Degree in Interior Design at IED Kunsthal Bilbao and Barcelona.
3. “Creative Industries and Virtual Reality”. In a context of digitization and technological revolution, virtual reality is gaining more and more importance in the world of design. And this new tool offers endless possibilities to transform and improve society. It will be taught by Mery Glez, Director of the Visual Communication Area and Program Leader of the Master in Design for Virtual Reality at IED Barcelona.
In addition to these renowned speakers, IED invites young creators to turn their ideas into projects, participating in IED’s Summer Grant for 2023 - under the theme “Respect.” People, places, future scenarios, are the issues we face today, gathered in the UN SDGs - Sustainable Development Goals - established by the United Nations (www.globalgoals.org). The ultimate goal of design - and everything created by a designer - is to improve the world and our lives: it dresses us, transports us, entertains us, tells stories, makes us think and makes our lives easier.
