Barcelona centre de Disseny, together with Barcelona City Council’s Directorate of Commerce, Catering and Consumer Affairs, has once again launched the “Christmas lights illuminate commerce” campaign. An initiative to bring the Christmas lighting that fills the city’s streets to shop windows through lighting design. It includes innovative projects in line with the values that the 2024 Christmas campaign wants to convey: tenderness, hospitality, respect, sustainability, responsible consumption, equality and diversity.
Once again this year, two of these proposals are the work of third-year Interior Design students from IED Barcelona, on this occasion Carina Kalweit, Caterina Sofía de Simone, Giulia Martinelli and Nina Dupont. These are “Starry Night. Gravity Christmas” and “Elf’s Factory”, and can be seen from 4 December to 7 January at the following establishments:

The proposals were mentored by IED Barcelona teacher Claudia Schneider.
The students carried out a comprehensive window display design taking into account the products that the establishment usually displays. For the project, they used recyclable and sustainable materials.
A committee of experts will decide which is the most innovative window display. In parallel, a popular vote will be held, the final result of which will be announced on 10 January.
