IED Madrid will participate in LUZMADRID 2026 through the “Luces Emergentes” programme, an initiative included in the festival’s third edition, taking place from 12 to 14 March 2026 at Central de Diseño, in collaboration with DIMAD.

“Luces Emergentes” was conceived as a space for experimentation and the visibility of emerging talent, transforming the festival into laboratory of contemporary creation where academic learning becomes artistic production. Within this framework, IED Madrid will present a proposal developed by a group of students, exploring light as the main artistic language.

The work created for this edition approaches light not only as a technical resource, but as a structural and conceptual element capable of constructing narratives, generating atmospheres and activating the relationship between space and viewer. Installation, spatial intervention, light sculpture or interactive piece: the format serves as a reflection on light as an expressive medium within contemporary design.

The selected works will be exhibited from 12 to 14 March 2026 at Central de Diseño – Matadero Madrid, a key hub for design in the city and one of the festival´s main venues, which during those days transforms Madrid into a night-time journey of light-based experiences.

Thanks to Jiso Iluminación and Simon Electric for the material.

We look forward to seeing you there!

“Caliu” in “Matter Matters. Designing with the World”

The project “Caliu”, by IED Barcelona alumnus Judith Aubà, has been selected to form part of this exhibition, which reflects on the major challenges facing design today and in the future at a critical time marked by the scarcity of raw materials.
