From 17 to 19 April 2026, Circolo del Design in Turin will host In-Relation Matters, a workshop led by Vivien Tauchmann and developed in collaboration with IED Torino as part of the activities of the Master in Social Ecological Design. The initiative is part of the Master’s broader educational framework, which promotes a critical design practice able to engage with the relationships between ecology, society, and contemporary processes of transformation.
Through guided movement explorations, somatic exercises, collective practices, and sensory field observations, the workshop invites participants to question everyday gestures, production processes, and the use of resources. In this way, the body becomes a tool for knowledge, able to reveal the connections between materials, infrastructures, the environment, and labour, while challenging the forms of alienation that often separate people, places, and systems of production.
In this sense, the workshop reflects some of the key themes of the Master in Social Ecological Design, which approaches design as a situated, relational, and responsible practice capable of responding to today’s ecological and social crises. At its core are urgent issues such as environmental and social justice, the need for new design imaginaries, and the urgency of rethinking design as a space of care, listening, and coexistence.
An independent designer, movement artist, educator, and researcher, Vivien Tauchmann develops a practice that brings together relational design, performance, and somatic pedagogies. The workshop will be held in English at Circolo del Design, Via San Francesco da Paola 17, Turin.
