For its third edition, YAWP Festival | Standing on School Desks returns to Milan's Teatro Franco Parenti, offering two days of talks, workshops, and performances that invite participants to envision education as a place of dialogue, learning, mutual exchange, and collective growth.
On Friday 2 and Saturday 3 October, YAWP Festival returns to Milan with Standing on School Desks, the multidisciplinary festival promoted and organized by the Francesco Morelli Foundation, under the artistic direction of Benedetta Marietti and with the patronage of the City of Milan.
The guiding theme of this third edition is The Life Ahead, inspired by Romain Gary’s novel of the same title. The theme invites participants to look to the future with hope and aspiration at a time marked by uncertainty and transformation. As in previous editions, the Festival opens itself to the city as a space for public reflection on education and on the urgent need for a transformative approach to learning, in keeping with Francesco Morelli’s vision.
The programme brings together conversations, dialogues, and lectures featuring writers, philosophers, psychologists, scientists, and artists. This year’s speakers include: Paolo Antonini, Alessandro Aresu, Bianca Arrighini, Silvia Avallone, Sarah Aziza, Mauro Balletti, Alessandra Carati, Gaja Cenciarelli, Loredana Cirillo, Enrico Galiano, Nicola Gardini, Ilaria Gaspari, Irene Guerrieri, Vittorio Lingiardi, Franco Lorenzoni, Michela Marzano, Marco Marzini, Arianna Montanari, Eugenio Radin, Christian Raimo, Alessandro Sorrentino, Livia Viganò, Virginia Volpi, and Elisa Zambito Marsala.
Alongside these events, the Festival will offer an extensive programme of free workshops for children, young people, and adults. The schedule also features two performances, presented by LaFil – Milan Philharmonic Orchestra and the theatre company I Sacchi di Sabbia, as well as Sound Ahead, a live musical event that will bring Saturday evening to a close.

Admission is free, subject to venue capacity. Advance registration is required for workshop participation.
