An installation that presents an archive of future news with the aim of exploring situations and speculating about events, focusing on design’s capacity.

HEMEROTECA DIGITAL (Digital Archive) - POSSIBLES is an installation that presents an archive of future news with the aim of exploring situations and speculating about events, focusing on design’s capacity and the role it plays in constructing our future / present.

This project is a collaboration between the 27th edition of the International Symposium on Electronics Arts (ISEA) 2022 in Barcelona and Designing for the Many, an interdisciplinary subject that saw the participation of all IED Barcelona Master students during the 2021-2022 academic year.

With the title “Possibles”, ISEA 2022 Barcelona took place from 10 to 16 July. Within this framework, Barcelona City Council and the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia) organised more than 50 activities with the aim of bringing art, science and technology closer to citizens.

IED Barcelona was part of the festival with its Hemeroteca Digital - Possibles (Digital Archive), a proposal that presented news items from a possible future. Students also designed different postcards coming from the future, announcing first hand what they had experienced in a compelling manner.

The installation was showcased in Ignasi Iglésias-Can Fabra Library as an open provocation to all citizens to speculate about possible futures and the role of design within them.
