Four of the ten experts who annually evaluate and reward vehicles that stand out for their bold aesthetics, innovation and technical creativity have ties to the IED Transportation Design community.
CarDesign.es, the first Spanish-language magazine specialising in car design and automotive history, has once again drawn on the transportation design expertise of professionals associated with the Istituto Europeo di Design when selecting the jury for the 5th CarDesign.es Awards.
Following their participation in 2025, IED Barcelona Director Raffaella Perrone and car designer and IED Torino lecturer Domenico Lee, two established figures in the industry, have returned to the judging panel.
The international competition has also welcomed two other professionals with ties to the IED community onto its jury. They are alumni Marta Beltrán and Alessia Lorelay, graduates of the Barcelona and Turin campuses, respectively. By including these two young designers, the competition aims to give a voice to new generations and, through Beltrán, Spain's first female motorcycle designer, broaden its perspective to embrace new forms of mobility.
The 5th CarDesign.es Awards ceremony took place in Madrid on 5 November, following a record number of entries (91 submissions covering 58 models from 21 brands). The jury recognised 10 models from Volvo, Bertone, FIAT, Renault, CUPRA, Alpine, Hyundai, Kimera and Pagani, while the magazine’s editorial team presented a special award to XPENG’s design team.
Raffaella Perrone, director of IED Barcelona, and Domenico Lee, car designer and lecturer at IED Turin, have returned as members of the panel.
