IED Roma takes part in the fourth edition of Cinema In Verde with LAND, a film training project that brought together twelve young Palestinian filmmakers.

Six short films, twelve young Palestinian filmmakers, and a network of professionals and organisations from the Italian film industry: this is the outcome of LAND, the free audiovisual and film training spring school promoted by Cinema In Verde together with ACS – Associazione di Cooperazione e Solidarietà. The project will be presented during the Festival’s closing night on Sunday, September 20.

Among the organisations involved in the project is IED Roma, which supported the participants in the production of two of the six short films, developed under the supervision of screenwriter and director Devor De Pascalis. The experience brought a shared process of training and production into the Institute, creating a dialogue between different skills, languages and perspectives.

For two months, between April and May, twelve aspiring filmmakers from the West Bank and Gaza worked in Rome on screenwriting, directing, cinematography, editing, sound design and production. Alongside technical training, the programme offered participants the opportunity to meet professionals from the industry and engage with some of Italy’s leading film, audiovisual and documentary organisations.

The programme also involved Groenlandia, where three short films were produced under the supervision of Matteo Rovere, president of the jury of Cinema In Verde 2026, and Pandataria Film, which organised an artist residency in Alta Sabina, curated by documentary filmmaker Tullio Bernabei. Different experiences, united by the aim of creating a space for dialogue through cinema, resulted in six works exploring themes of education, territory, identity and belonging.

The connection between IED Roma and the Festival is further strengthened by the participation of Laura Negrini, Director of IED Roma, as a member of the jury for the fourth edition of Cinema In Verde. Her role on the jury complements the Institute’s contribution to the training programme with an opportunity for dialogue and evaluation of the films in competition, within a Festival that brings together cinema, the environment and communities.

A project that makes cinema a shared space for telling stories rooted in different experiences and territories, while using education and training to create new opportunities for encounter, expression and collaboration.

The six short films will be presented on Sunday, September 20, at the Piazza Vittorio Arena, during the closing night of the fourth edition of Cinema In Verde, in the presence of the Festival jury, Sabrina Alfonsi, Councillor for the Environment of Rome Capital, Massimiliano Smeriglio, Councillor for Culture of Rome Capital, and the guests of the closing event.

All screenings and activities are free of charge, subject to availability. Advance booking is required for all activities at the Piazza Vittorio Arena. Further information is available on the Festival’s website.
