Italian Female Filmmakers in the Sixties and Seventies: Book Presentation as Part of Lo Schermo dell’Arte

As part of Lo Schermo dell’Arte 2026, IED Firenze will host the presentation of the book Italian Female Filmmakers in the Sixties and Seventies: Lives, Histories, and Identities (Lenz Press, Milan, 2026) on Saturday, 14 November at 3:00 PM, at the ex Teatro dell’Oriuolo, in collaboration with Fondazione In Between Art Film.
The book explores the film, documentary and video production of women artists and filmmakers active in Italy during the 1960s and 1970s. Through eighteen essays specially commissioned for the publication, the volume examines the work of figures such as Giosetta Fioroni, Ketty La Rocca, Marisa Merz, Gina Pane, Marinella Pirelli, Cecilia Mangini and Angela Ricci Lucchi, alongside many other key figures of a pivotal period in Italian visual culture.
The presentation will feature the book's editors, Carla Subrizi, Paola Ugolini and Maria Alicata, with an introduction by Alessandro Rabottini, Artistic Director of Fondazione In Between Art Film.
