A traveling exhibition that brings together a leading international selection of typography, calligraphy, and lettering across fields such as identity, editorial design, and applied graphics

IED, in collaboration with the Type Directors Club of New York, presents the TDC 71 Exhibition, a show that brings together the award-winning works from the most recent edition of its annual international competition— a collaboration that brings IED closer to the leading discourses and practices of contemporary typographic design.

The exhibition offers a broad and diverse overview of contemporary design in typography, calligraphy, and lettering, with applications in visual identity, editorial projects, and applied graphics. A carefully curated selection that reflects the creative richness and high level of craftsmanship that define this discipline.

After its stop at IED Bilbao, where it can be visited from 26 January to 21 February, the “TDC 71 Exhibition” will continue its tour at IED Barcelona from 25 February to 25 March, and at IED Madrid from 7 May to 29 May, bringing a leading international exhibition to each of their respective communities.

Founded in 1946, the Type Directors Club was established with the aim of promoting excellence in typography. In 1953 it organized its first annual competition to recognize the best work in the field, expanding participation to non-members from 1956 onwards.
