AetherCare is a smart medical bed designed to meet the challenges of healthcare on Mars, where resources and personnel are limited.
In everyday use it works as a comfortable bed; in emergencies or illness it transforms into an advanced medical device capable of providing comprehensive care during long-duration missions. The design prioritizes psychological wellbeing through soft colors and welcoming forms, countering the isolation of life in space. Integrated sensors and scanning systems continuously monitor vital parameters, while side barriers and internal compartments ensure safety and rapid access to medicines and tools. A memory-foam mattress with adjustable air pumps enables therapeutic massage and supports physical rehabilitation. A robotic medical arm assists with injections and treatments, reducing the burden on onboard staff. The system can be managed through voice and gesture commands and is designed for telemedicine, enabling remote support from medical teams on Earth. AetherCare redefines the bed as an infrastructure of care, comfort, and safety in space.
