A space can go beyond accommodation and become a way of discovering a destination. Developed for the Kora Living hotel brand, this proposal builds on the concept created for the lobby to design a guest room where design, tradition and Mediterranean culture come together to create a hospitality experience that connects guests with the essence of Málaga.
Atravesando el destino (Crossing the Destination) is a project by Melissa Gómez, developed as part of the Master's Degree in Interior Design for Commercial, Hospitality and Workspaces. Inspired by Kora Living's philosophy, the project uses craftsmanship as its guiding thread to create a space that reflects the local identity while fostering an emotional connection with its surroundings.
The proposal combines a palette of earthy tones, wood finishes and natural materials with the distinctive presence of traditional Málaga tiles, which bring colour, texture and character to the interior. Warm lighting and handcrafted natural fibres complete a serene and welcoming atmosphere, where every element contributes to enhancing the guest experience.
More than just a hotel room, the project creates a space that brings guests closer to the local culture and Mediterranean landscape, demonstrating how interior design can become a tool for creating meaningful, place-based experiences.
