A modular lighting system that adapts to the different functions of domestic spaces

The project develops Cephei, a multifunctional lamp designed to meet the needs of contemporary domestic spaces, which are increasingly hybrid and flexible. The brief stems from the observation of the evolving lifestyles of students and young professionals, who often use the same room for working, studying, and relaxing, highlighting the need for a lighting system that can adapt to different moments of the day.

The proposal takes the form of a single object capable of assuming different configurations, accompanying users throughout their daily activities without the need for multiple dedicated products. Through a simple and intuitive transformation, the lamp shifts from a desk light to a bedside lamp and finally into a portable lantern, creating different lighting scenarios while naturally adapting to the space and its changing functions.

The project is named Cephei, inspired by the Cepheid variable stars, whose brightness changes regularly over time.
