An illustrated wayfinding system inspired by the meadow ecosystem
The project transforms the Consulta's spaces into a wayfinding experience inspired by the meadow ecosystem, where plants and insects work together to sustain biodiversity. An illustrated signage system, combining lines, flowers, and icons, guides visitors through the different areas of the building, making navigation more intuitive and accessible. Illustration thus becomes a tool for welcome and inclusion, translating the values of the CPD into a spatial experience designed to guide, orient, and place people at its centre.
Consulta per le Persone in Difficoltà (CPD) invited students to develop illustration projects that translate the principles of inclusion, participation, accessibility, and dignity into a contemporary visual language. Through the design of communication tools and site-specific interventions, the project explored the potential of illustration as a form of social communication, capable of fostering empathy, awareness, and new forms of connection.
