Bianca Costanzo, Federica Tornaghi, Cristina Capoano, and Gaia De Napoli, students of the Master's in Animation Design, have created a poignant short film that is capable of moving and touching the audience

"Quel che rimane" is an animated short film that tells the poignant story of an elderly widower, the last inhabitant of a small, now deserted village. The protagonist is the innkeeper of a small tavern located in the village square. Although his tavern has not seen any customers in years, the innkeeper continues his daily routine: every day, he prepares the room and opens the tavern, as if still waiting for patrons to arrive.

With the departure of his daughter for her studies, the innkeeper is left completely alone. To pass the time, he takes up drawing, creating life-like sketches of objects in the tavern. One day, while a window swings open due to the wind, a box falls, revealing old photographs from his past, bringing memories of a life long gone.

"Quel che rimane" explores universal themes such as grief, loneliness, and resilience through the life of its protagonist, showing how attachment to memories and daily routines can offer a sense of continuity and comfort. The delicate storytelling and evocative animation make this short film a profound reflection on the passage of time and the value of human connections.
