This research proposes an intelligent shower capsule designed not only to meet hygiene needs in low-resource environments, but also to offer a multisensory experience capable of reducing stress and the sense of isolation.
The system is controlled through a smart ring that enables intuitive, contactless gestures to adjust light, water flow, and environmental modes—ideal for compact, sterilized spaces. Live plants are integrated inside the capsule and irrigated through a greywater recycling system, recreating a small Earth-inspired micro-environment and stimulating visual and olfactory senses. The modular, recessed design facilitates integration into prefabricated habitats and supports transport and assembly in orbit or on the Martian surface. Thanks to a high-efficiency water recycling system, the shower becomes a daily ritual of psycho-physical regeneration, restoring comfort and familiarity to life in space.
