From concept development to broadcast, Communication Design students contribute to the creation of a television commercial for “Sud Vivo”, a campaign by Fondazione con il Sud addressing the issue of depopulation in Southern Italy.

How can the future of Southern Italy be portrayed through the eyes of younger generations? This is the design challenge undertaken by students from the Undergraduate course in Communication Design as part of the collaboration with Fondazione con il Sud. Responding to a brief for the “Sud Vivo” campaign, students are invited to explore the issue of depopulation in Southern Italy, translating a complex social challenge into a compelling message through audiovisual storytelling.

The learning experience involves the development of creative concepts and proposals, from the initial idea to the creation of a narrative designed for television. Students explore the language of social communication, seeking a balance between effective messaging, clarity and consistency with the campaign's values. Their contribution brings forward the perspective of a generation directly affected by the country's social and cultural transformations.

The selected proposal is then further developed and produced as a television commercial, with filming taking place in Cerveteri. Students from the Fashion Design and Sound Design programmes also take part in the production, bringing together different creative skills in a multidisciplinary experience that follows the journey from the initial concept to its audiovisual realisation.

The commercial has been airing on La7 since 11 October 2026 as part of the “Sud Vivo” campaign.
