The Reflection of Mediterranean Light in Space

Light shapes the way we perceive space. Inspired by Málaga's beaches, the sea and the warm glow of its sunsets, this project reinterprets the Mediterranean landscape through materials, textures and an inviting atmosphere that transforms a hotel room into a sensory experience.
Developed by the student Fabiola Calderón as part of the Master's Degree in Interior Design for Commercial, Hospitality and Workspaces, the project takes one of the Costa del Sol's most distinctive features—Mediterranean light—as its starting point.
The proposal recreates the golden reflections of the sunset on the sea and sand through a carefully curated selection of materials, colours and finishes. Warm tones, surfaces that evoke the movement of water and natural textures create a serene environment that connects guests with the landscape of Málaga from within the space.
More than simply meeting the functional requirements of a hotel room, the project offers an immersive experience in which interior design becomes a vehicle for expressing the identity of the destination. Every design decision aims to transform the room into a contemporary reflection of the Mediterranean, inviting guests to discover the essence of Málaga through light, materiality and atmosphere.
