Explore the possibilities of new digital media and experiment with mobile game design, combining storytelling, visual identity and interaction.

The New Media & Game Design Junior Summer Course invites you to discover the world of video games from a creative perspective, exploring how design, technology and storytelling come together to create new digital experiences. Over two weeks, you will explore different disciplines within New Media, from storytelling and worldbuilding to interaction design, animation and sound. Starting from a social or environmental challenge, you will imagine a small mobile game and discover new ways of communicating ideas through gaming.

You will work on a hands-on, collaborative project that takes you through the main stages of the design process. During the first week, you will explore the evolution of gaming, develop your game concept and define its story, rules and visual identity. In the second week, you will experiment with UX/UI, navigation, interaction and prototyping tools, using Unity to bring an interactive experience to life. Each team member will take on a specific role within the creative process, combining different disciplines to turn an idea into a prototype.

The experience also includes visits to companies and studios in the industry, giving you the opportunity to discover Barcelona's creative and technological gaming ecosystem first-hand. At the end of the course, you will present your project as a team, explaining its concept, creative process and gameplay experience. Beyond technical development, you will discover how video games can become a medium for telling stories, designing experiences and exploring new creative possibilities.
