IED Madrid hosts the presentation of “Manos Cusqueñas”, in an event that connects academic training with the ancestral craftsmanship of Cusco and the global fashion industry.
Next Thursday, March 5 at 7:00 pm, IED Madrid will hold a special event with one of its most international alumni: Diego Yamashiro, a Peruvian designer and photographer, currently Head of Image at Devota & Lomba. Under the concept “Heritage and Vanguard,” the event proposes a cultural bridge between the school as a talent incubator and the global projection of a creator who has successfully integrated identity, sustainability, and origin-based luxury.
The event will revolve around the presentation of his documentary “Manos Cusqueñas”, a work that pays tribute to ten award-winning mater artisans from Cusco, exploring their origins and craftsmanship. The session will combine dialogue and audiovisual screenings to delve into the documentary’s production process, the motivation behind promoting Peruvian culture, and the challenges of working with artisan communities.
Recognized for having dressed international figures such as Novak Djokovic and Miguel Bosé, Diego Yamashiro embodies the global reach of an education that understands design as a tool for cultural transformation. His trajectory demonstrates how contemporary design can draw from its roots to project itself into the future.
A unique opportunity to discover how the thread that connects tradition and avant-garde can shape new narratives in fashion and contemporary design.
