Within the frame of BENEXT FASHION DESIGN CONTEST taking place during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi 2023, IED Firenze granted a 100% scholarship for a summer course in Fashion Trend Forecasting and Styling to the winner Davit Zhorzholiani.
The winning collection “Re12” is inspired by French occultist Eliphas Lévi and by Italian futurist artist Filippo Marinetti. Both of them preach that to create a new era you have to destroy the old one.
“Design for me means creating something out of nothing. I believe we are born to evolve, to feel metamorphosis, to turn into supernatural beings. I collected secondary waste fabrics, boots, clothes then I pulled them apart and gave it a whole new life: this collection is fully upcycled and recycled”, Davit said.
Jacopo Manganiello, BENEXT jury member and IED Marketing Manager, highlighted the concepts of upcycling techniques that make the collection and the whole brand sustainable as well as the cultural and conceptual references that have found life in a product packaged to perfection.
The trip and stay in Italy will be sponsored by Sofia Tchkonia, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi.
