The Istituto Europeo di Design has been ranked the world's top 100 universities in the Art & Design discipline by the QS World University Rankings® by Subject 2026. The recognition, achieved in the school's 60th anniversary year, reinforces IED's standing as an international reference point for design education and the creative industries.

Milan, 25 March 2026 - The Istituto Europeo di Design has entered the world's top 100 universities for the Art & Design discipline, placing 78th in the QS World University Rankings® by Subject 2026 - the most authoritative international ranking for the comparative assessment of higher education institutions worldwide.

The result comes in the year IED marks its 60th anniversary, cementing a legacy of educational leadership built over six decades.

"IED reaffirms its mission: to train the designers of tomorrow, who will be able to contribute to the responsible design of a more sustainable world. For us, being a design school means nurturing talent to help shape a better world", said Francesco Gori, Chief Executive Officer of Gruppo IED.

To compile the 2026 edition, QS assessed the reputation and research output of more than 6,000 institutions across 55 subject areas. In Art & Design, the ranking relies primarily on reputational indicators: academic reputation reflects how the institution is regarded by the international academic community, while employer reputation captures its standing in the professional world and the career outcomes of its graduates.
