IED Barcelona graduates produced a film about their experience in Kazakhstan!

Matteo Guarnaccia, IED Barcelona alumni, Italian designer, IED Madrid teacher, together with Zhanna EE who is originally from Kazakhstan organized a Cross Cultural Workshop presenting the results at an exhibition in A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts, Almaty.

In August 2022, Matteo set out to Kazakhstan continuing his pursuit. This time, ten young designers and creatives from across the globe joined him in developing not a chair, but a different style of seating that plays an important role in the Kazakh culture: a horse saddle.

The designers dove into the local traditions as well as contemporary practices and analyzed the connection between horse, human and saddle.

On this occasion David Leon Fiene IED Barcelona motion graphics graduate who was a filmmaker, Director, DOP & Editor of the Workshop created a story of identity, community and collaboration—shedding light on our similarities and differences, looking at things anew to celebrate our individuality and bring us closer together. David invites you on a surprisingly stimulating journey where you’ll explore how we live through the lens of a chair.

You can see the film on Nowness.
