IED.60 Public Program continues in May: a rich calendar of events to both the internal and external community, launched on the occasion of the Institute’s 60th anniversary as a collective reflection on the role of design. The program accompanies IED’s educational activities while expanding dialogue with the cities where IED is based and with the international cultural landscape.
Through these events, IED brings the themes explored in teaching and research beyond the classroom, offering opportunities for direct exchange with designers, researchers and leading figures in contemporary culture.
In May, the Public Program is enriched with new events taking place across Italy, Spain and New York, including lectures, masterclasses, public discussions and major cultural festivals. Diverse in format and audience, these events are united by an open and experimental approach to design and project-making as tools for interpreting the present, in line with IED’s ongoing reflection on Plural Intelligences.
An important new development for 2026 is IED’s participation in Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino, scheduled to take place from 14 to 18 May. At one of Italy’s leading cultural events dedicated to the production and circulation of knowledge, IED will be present with a newsstand of creativity, conceived as an open space for meeting and exchange. The newsstand will host the first two issues of Notes on Plural Intelligences, IED’s research publication, alongside a public programme of talks bringing together publishing, design and project-based thinking. A cultural outpost designed to engage with the Book Fair’s audience and to share the research, visions and practices at the heart of the Institute’s work.
