What do we inherit, and what do we choose to preserve? ABONO 04. Marcando Tinta is an editorial project that explores heritage as a process of transmission and choice, questioning the permanence of traditions and our relationship with what we receive and pass on.

We inherit objects, words, customs, gestures and ways of understanding the world that we repeat almost without realising it. These are things that come to us because someone before us chose them and decided to pass them on. However, every inheritance also involves a decision: not everything we receive has to remain, nor does everything deserve to be passed on.
Based on this reflection, the project develops a proposal that brings together three complementary formats: a website, a magazine and an exhibition. In this edition, the website becomes the main format, functioning as a living archive that brings together different perspectives on heritage. Through a range of disciplines, projects and creative languages, ABONO 04 creates a space for collective exploration of what remains, transforms or disappears over time.
Marcando Tinta invites us to question what we inherit and understand transmission as a conscious act, in which every choice determines what we want to preserve and the legacy we want to create.
ABONO 04 is part of ABONO, the experimental editorial project of IED Madrid’s School of Visual Arts. Through its different editions, this initiative brings together the work of students and alumni around research, experimentation and visual creation, forming a collective platform that explores new forms of expression and thought through design.
