An interior cladding system composed of modular elements that combines warmth, ambiance and emotional presence in home life. ‘CALIU’ (“warmth” in Catalan) explores how design can humanise and soften rigid interiors without the need for intrusive renovation.
The system consists of natural cork panels that provide physical and thermal-acoustic comfort — the ability of this natural material to absorb sound and change temperature is well known — which are held together by a system of solid wood joints.
‘CALIU’ is not merely a decorative element: it is a practical and emotional tool to renew the lives of its inhabitants. Its placement is adjustable: it can be applied selectively, on walls or in specific areas, to adapt to the user’s schedules and rituals. It is easy to install, scalable and reversible, and does not imply a permanent alteration to the environment.
