Academic year

2025/2026

Presented at Videocittà Watercult 2026, EGERIA is an immersive installation that combines video mapping, interaction design, sound design and live performance to explore the relationship between people, water and the environment.

Led by lecturers Alice Felloni and Giulio Maresca, students from the Undergraduate courses in Interactive Media Design and Sound Design developed EGERIA, an interdisciplinary project inspired by the Nymphaeum of Egeria, an ancient sacred site located in Rome's Caffarella Valley. Bringing together visual, sonic and interactive languages, the team transformed this neglected heritage site into a digital environment that reconnects people with memory and nature.

The installation combines video mapping, sound environments, interaction design and live performance within a single immersive ecosystem. Sounds, voices and breathing generated by visitors continuously influence the space, which responds by shifting between states of activation and stillness. The result is a participatory experience that translates environmental responsibility into a direct interaction between body, technology and landscape.

Presented at Videocittà Watercult 2026, EGERIA offered students the opportunity to engage with the design and production of a large-scale immersive installation for one of Italy's leading festivals dedicated to digital culture.
