A sustainable vertical farm where carbon is recycled and used as a nutrient for plants

Based on the possibilities that CCUS (carbon capture, use and storage) technology offers to reduce carbon emissions in the atmosphere, Upcycle Hills studies the potential of its application in the field of modern agriculture.

The result is the design of a sustainable vertical farm where carbon is recycled and used as a nutrient for plants. In addition, the student contemplates an educational aspect of the project through a programme of experimentation and learning activities.

The design of the space succeeds in offering the visitor the sensation of total integration with nature. Its exterior shape blends into the terrain and the plants on its façade act as a filter for the natural light that shines into the interior of the building, creating a dynamic play between light and shadow.
