Contemporary challenges, such as the use of emerging technologies and adaptation to new media, transform illustration into an opportunity to explore dynamic visual languages capable of creating new worlds.
The Bachelor of Arts in Illustration is based on the idea of drawing as both a language and a tool for understanding, allowing you to express your creativity and your vision of the world across the various fields of the creative industries.
The course combines an in-depth understanding of visual culture with the acquisition of technical skills—both traditional and digital, including digital illustration and animation — as well as design methodologies that will expand your imaginative possibilities and enable you to develop your expressive identity and personal style.
Starting from the fundamentals of drawing and image analysis, over the three years you will have the opportunity to experiment with the many branches of illustration: from artistic fiction illustration and comic and graphic novel work, to scientific or educational illustration, from character design and concept art for animation to illustration for video games and multimedia content. You will learn to master advanced illustration and narrative techniques, transforming an idea into an image capable of telling a story.
Through creative workshops, you will be able to experiment with innovative and interdisciplinary approaches, developing practical skills essential for a professional career as an illustrator.
By the end of the course, you will be able to build a strong portfolio, essential for presenting yourself successfully in the professional world and showcasing your talent across the various sectors of visual creativity.
Furthermore, the opportunity to work on real projects in collaboration with companies and institutions, alongside guidance from faculty — leading professionals in both national and international contexts — will allow you to explore the many applications of illustration: from publishing to communication, from visual storytelling to fashion, from character design to animation, and even in growing sectors such as game design.
