Seeing a fashion product in an advertisement is one thing; experiencing its creation is another. Italy is a global hub for premium and high-end fashion production, home to both luxury conglomerates and renowned independent fashion brands.
Managing a fashion product is a complex process that spans the entire fashion supply chain: from sourcing materials and developing collections to purchasing finished products and implementing effective merchandising strategies in distribution. These critical phases are led by Fashion Merchandisers and Fashion Buyers, professionals with specialized training who often navigate between these complementary roles, gaining the expertise needed to succeed in the fashion industry.
The Master in Fashion Merchandising and Buying teaches students to develop a deep understanding of the fashion market, study consumer habits, and gain knowledge of fabrics, styles, and product ranges to create unique collections that reflect market trends and meet customer needs. The program covers the entire fashion product lifecycle, from concept and design to production and retail, providing a comprehensive understanding of the fashion industry.
Studying in Milan, the world’s fashion capital, gives students direct access to luxury brands, industry professionals, and leading fashion companies, allowing them to build skills, expand their network, and enhance career opportunities in a dynamic fashion business ecosystem.
The Master’s Program begins with the modules of Contemporary Fashion Culture and Market and Consumer Psychology, providing a solid understanding of how the modern fashion market operates and how consumer behavior shapes merchandising and buying strategies.
Students then deepen their knowledge through Product Management and Fashion Operations, focusing on fashion product development, production processes, costs, range planning, and value creation within the fashion supply chain, with practical, industry-oriented projects.
The program concludes with a Final Project in which students develop a merchandising plan and buying strategy based on an industry brief or a personal project
The Master’s Program in Fashion Merchandising and Buying prepares students for careers as Merchandising Managers and Fashion Buyers. With a blend of hands-on training, industry insights, and personal development, graduates acquire the skills to pursue strategic roles such as Product Manager within the global fashion industry, equipping them to thrive in a competitive and fast-paced fashion business environment.
