IED’s presence at this edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid once again highlights the connection between education, talent and contemporary creativity. Juan Vidal, Moisés Nieto and Ernesto Naranjo brought their latest proposals to the runway, reaffirming IED’s strong ties with the fashion industry.
Javier Comesaña, founder of Apolineo Studio, and Matilde Bliebernicht, founder of Misstake, also took part, alongside student Antonio Cotes, who presented their latest proposals on the EGO runway.

And he did it again. At an exclusive event held at the Hotel Palace during the second day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid (14–19 September), designer and IED Barcelona lecturer Juan Vidal once again demonstrated the extent to which technical perfection, sensitivity in exploring female strength, and the exploration of seduction are constants in his work.
Before a select group of fashion experts, he presented “El segundo Edén”, a fresh and contemporary proposal inspired by sportswear, with a focus on volumes, prints and contrasting colours, evolving from his previous collection, “Edén”. With seven models standing still in different locations throughout the imposing hall, his presentation was one of the most innovative shows on the Madrid runway. Built around new collaborations between fashion, design and accessories, the project sees Vidal continuing to explore new creative paths.
IED Madrid alumnus Moisés Nieto returns to the runway with a collection inspired by contemporary Andalusian femininity
The designer became one of the highlights of the day with a runway tribute to his native Andalusia. A vision centred around the colour black, where light and darkness coexist, while traditional folklore is absent and figures such as the women portrayed by Julio Romero and Lorca take centre stage.
Through crochet tops, long fringed earrings and sack-shaped bags, the designer has portrayed an Andalusian woman who is conscious of tradition while looking towards the future.
IED alumnus Ernesto Naranjo presents “ONDINE”, a collection exploring a universe where matter never remains still
Naranjo presented his new collection, which explores an intermediate state between construction and lightness through fabrics that move, float and envelop the body.
ONDINE was presented on the MBFW runway through the imagery of a woman who finds pleasure in the act of dressing and understands fashion as a physical, emotional and sensory experience. Sculptural brooches inspired by marine organisms, organza, tulle and satin created an ethereal atmosphere in which the silhouette evolves and never remains in the same form.
