Experiment with fashion styling and photography as tools for image design and create a professional digital portfolio.

In today’s creative landscape, the integration of photography, styling, and creative direction demands skills that combine structured methodology, guided experimentation, and tangible results. This course approaches fashion styling and fashion photography as complementary tools for building visual identity, with a strong focus on outcomes.

The Summer Course in Fashion Styling and Photography offers an introductory yet methodical approach, guiding you from visual research and analysis to the development of an individual project and a professional digital portfolio. Milan provides the cultural and visual backdrop for the course, turning the urban environment into a space for observation, inspiration, and creative production.

The course aims to give participants a structured methodology for designing fashion imagery—from visual research to portfolio creation. By the end of the program, students will have gained skills in critical analysis of fashion imagery, developing a personal concept, applying fundamental styling and photography principles both in studio and on location, and selecting, post-processing, and presenting images professionally.

These skills can be applied across various fields, including fashion photography, fashion styling, visual content creation, brand communication, editorial projects, and other creative contexts within the fashion system.

Information to decide

The Summer Course in Fashion Styling and Photography spans three weeks and 75 hours, combining theoretical analysis and practical application. The program emphasizes a strong link between design methodology and image production, providing a structured framework to guide your creative development from concept to finished portfolio.

The course begins with an introduction to fashion imagery and visual culture, helping you develop a critical eye and a strong foundation in design methodology, visual research, and concept development. You will then move into studio photography, learning the essentials of working with artificial lighting, managing sets, and understanding the relationship between styling and photography.

Building on these skills, you will explore on-location photography, learning to work with natural light and using Milan’s urban environment as a narrative element. Visits and observational activities throughout the city will feed your visual research and enrich your creative approach.

The course concludes with a final individual shoot based on a personal brief, featuring models and makeup artists, where you will put the entire method you’ve learned into practice. In the final phase, you will work on post-production, image selection, and the creation of your digital portfolio, the key professional outcome of the course. Finally, you will present your project in a concluding session, sharing your concept, creative process, and final images.

This course is ideal for students and young professionals looking to structure their approach to fashion image design, integrating fashion photography and styling.

The program welcomes participants with diverse backgrounds in fashion, photography, design, visual arts, and communication, including those in the early stages of their studies.

No advanced skills in styling or fashion photography are required, but a basic understanding of camera operation is necessary for hands-on activities.
