On September 13th, IED Milano had the pleasure of welcoming a group of students and professors from Osaka Sogo College of Design (大阪総合デザイン専門学校), marking the beginning of a promising new chapter of international collaboration for IED.
The workshop led by professors and alumni Ale Crova and Michele Giacopuzzi, offered participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of innovation applied to Made in Italy, explored through the lenses of the Design Thinking methodology. This dynamic and practical approach allowed the visiting group to engage directly with creative processes, fostering new ways of thinking about design, culture, and innovation.
This visit represents the first concrete step in the collaboration between IED and Osaka Sogo College of Design, a pioneering Japanese institution with a strong reputation in graphic design, illustration, and animation studies. By opening a dialogue between two institutions with distinct cultural backgrounds and academic strengths, the initiative sets the stage for a long-term exchange of ideas, practices, and knowledge.
Driven by Milan campus, the partnership has the objective of identifying areas of synergy and complementarity that will allow both institutions to thrive. The collaboration aspires not only to enrich students’ academic paths, but also to create opportunities for professors and staff members, equipping both sides with a broader set of tools, knowledge, and perspectives to navigate the challenges of an evolving global design landscape.
Beyond academic enrichment, this collaboration highlights IED’s commitment to strengthening its role as an international network for higher education in design. By fostering partnerships of this kind, IED underscores the importance of intercultural dialogue, cross-disciplinary innovation, and shared growth, reaffirming its mission to educate the designers of the future.
