"Beyond"is the evolution of the Product Design thesis by alumnae Estelle Van de Winckel and Magdalena Herrá, led by designer and Danver’s creative director Daniel Germani, visiting professor at IED Milano.

New York's International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF, May 18 - 20) will unveil a special project in partnership with luxury outdoor living leader company, Danver Stainless Outdoor Kitchens. Designer and Danver’s creative director Daniel Germani, while serving as a visiting professor at IED, identified and advanced an IED Milano student-designed thesis project titled "Beyond.” The outdoor kitchen concept will be displayed at Danver's booth and its creators, Product Design alumnae Estelle Van de Winckel (from Belgium) and Magdalena Herrán (Argentina) will be present at the show.

Inspired by nature and deeply rooted in applied arts, Van de Winckel and Herrán with guidance from Germani merged functionality with aesthetics – blending outdoor ambiance with industrial kitchen expertise – resulting in a concept that showcases a nuanced synthesis of elements seldom explored in outdoor kitchen design. Danver is aiming to adapt the collection to be available in the U.S. market in 2027.

When I first began my work as a visiting professor for the IED four years ago, I immediately recognized what an incredible opportunity it would be for Danver to get a glimpse of how our industry’s future envisions the evolution of outdoor design,” says Germani. “It’s been such an honor to collaborate with Giacomo Bertolazzi, Head of Design School at IED Milano, and Designer and IED Milano faculty member Attila Veress – I hope this is the first of many collaborations together.”

Reaping the results of a collaboration that has crossed the ocean in the name of design – based on a strong commitment by our students, the IED faculty and the exceptional mentor Daniel Germani – is a source of great pride for us,” says Giacomo Bertolazzi, Head of Design School at IED Milano. “It's not a given that a company of Danver's significance would concretely invest in a thesis project, actively steering its development and bringing it to the industry.”
