IED will participate in the fifth edition of Social Design Days, taking place in Tbilisi, Georgia, from 8 to 10 October 2026. Dedicated to the theme Urban Culture, the international event brings together designers, architects, researchers and cultural practitioners to explore how urban and suburban movements shape social life, communities and the built environment.
Representing IED at the conference, Francesca Perani, architect, visual designer, educator and Coordinator of the Master in Interior Design at IED Milano, will deliver the lecture Diagonals, Curves and Activism: Acts of Professional Disobedience.
Drawing on her interdisciplinary practice, Perani will reflect on design and architecture as tools for participation, visibility and social change. Her contribution resonates with the broader theme of this year's Social Design Days, highlighting how creative disciplines can challenge established conventions and foster more inclusive ways of imagining and shaping spaces, cities and communities.
Founder of Francesca Perani Enterprise and co-founder of the cultural activism project RebelArchitette, Perani has developed a practice that combines design, education and advocacy, with a particular focus on representation and the communicative potential of space.
