Third edition of The Glitch Camp, the free urban campsite for students organised by Fondazione Francesco Morelli and Istituto Europeo di Design as the latter celebrates its 60th anniversary.
Fondazione Francesco Morelli (the non-profit organisation that owns the IED Group), and Istituto Europeo di Design (a benefit company) are using The Glitch Camp to broaden access to Design Week and the cultural heritage of the “Salone del Mobile” for young people from around the world, promoting design as a catalyst for growth, connection and opportunity.
The Glitch Camp is made possible thanks to the support of Fondazione Cariplo, which has long been committed to promoting social cohesion and local development. For the first time, it is hosted at the Ex Macello in Porta Vittoria by Near Sgr, which is active in urban regeneration and in developing new, sustainable and inclusive forms of living, including the Ex Macello site: a post-industrial space now at the centre of ARIA. The latter is a major urban regeneration project for the entire area that will welcome the new IED international campus. The presence of The Glitch Camp in the area of Milan south of the Porta Vittoria railway underpass creates a positive interaction between the resident community, local businesses, public authorities and the IED community, together with the Foundation and everyone who will “inhabit” these places during Design Week. This reflects IED’s commitment to using design as a socially responsible, ethical, and sustainable driver of change.
As the main sponsor, IKEA will furnish the Camp’s spaces, making them both functional and welcoming, with shared areas designed to foster exchange and conviviality. The Camp will also be equipped with Ferrino tents suited for outdoor activities such as trekking and camping, with each tent fitted with a set of IKEA products to ensure a comfortable rest and a pleasant stay. Beyond meeting the basic need for accommodation, the Camp will serve as a space for connection and social interaction. Glitchers will start each day with breakfast provided by Pane Morato, offering a moment for gathering and sharing. The week will also feature three social dinners at the Ex Macello, organised together with IKEA, with the aim of bringing students and the design community together as well as encouraging new connections.
Throughout the week, The Glitch Camp will host a program of activities designed to foster connection, creativity, and shared experiences at the intersection of design, sustainability, and community.
Activities are subject to limited availability and will be open until capacity is reached.
