Designing a sustainable future with the help of Adele Orcajada and the IED in Colombia.
Next April, the IED team will travel to Colombia with Adele Orcajada, accessories- fashion designer and product developer. She is also coordinator and teacher of the Master in Fashion Design and Circular Economy at the IED Kunsthal Bilbao.
During her visit, Adele Orcajada will give a series of workshops and conferences with our partners in Colombia. From April 13th to 22nd, she will visit some of the most renowned universities and high schools in that country that offer programs related to the creative industries field.
“Designing a sustainable future” is the name of the conference that will take place in Bogotá and will address topics such as new materials to shape the future of design and sustainability. Biodegradable plastics or vegan leathers, among others, offer sustainable alternatives to traditional resources. These are innovations that not only have a positive and regenerative impact on the planet, but also pave the way towards circular design, in which materials can be reused or recycled.

About Adele Orcajada
In addition to her teaching work at the IED Kunsthal Bilbao, Adele Orcajada is an accessories designer and biodesign researcher.
With a career spanning more than ten years as a fashion accessories designer, Adele has been a researcher, librarian and curator of sustainable materials since 2014 as a partner in MATERIALDRIVEN, a design studio and materials library, where she explores material innovation with brands and institutions.
She regularly participates in talks and conferences on materials innovation, sustainability and circular economy. As a specialist in biomaterials, she has directed several educational projects in this field, now focusing on a PhD whose research focuses on biodesign and craftsmanship.
