IED and C2C Festival in collaboration with Mirror Digital Agency present INTERGALACTIC.

A site-specific project curated by Bill Kouligas, an artist, musician and designer among the most radical figures in contemporary experimentation, in a new graft of fashion, avant pop, interaction design and visual research.

Intergalactic is an immersive installation presented by IED and C2C Festival, curated by the artist and designer Bill Kouligas, and in collaboration with Mirror Digital Agency.

It brings together fashion, sound design, technology, visual arts, and graphic design, transforming the space of the former Teatro dell’Oriuolo into a unique sensory experience.The work is the result of a collective project involving students from the IED campuses in Italy and Spain, coming from various disciplines and coordinated by Bill Kouligas.

The centrepiece of the site specific artwork is an architecture of light and fabric, moving images and sounds that comes to life thanks to sensors that react to the audience’s movement. Performers wearing garments designed by the students become an integral part of the interactive environment. Their movements activate sounds and images in real time, fruit of the students’ visual and sound research, giving shape to a dynamic ecosystem that brings into dialogue fashion, music, human bodies and celestial bodies, art and technology, matter and imagination.

Mirror, a communication agency that makes digital innovation its distinctive aptitude, supported IED and C2C Festival — the largest indoor music festival in Italy and a renowned avant-pop event in Europe — in the creative and technological direction of the installation.

Bill Kouligas is a Berlin-based artist, designer, and musician. In 2008, he founded PAN, a multidisciplinary platform and record label that he curates and directs artistically. Over the past 15 years, PAN has become a leading force in avant-garde electronic music, collaborating with artists such as Arca, Yves Tumor, Eartheater, and Amnesia Scanner, as well as contemporary art figures like Turner Prize winner Mark Leckey and Golden Lion recipient Anne Imhof.

Kouligas’s artistic practice spans sound, image, and performance, drawing from diverse sources, traditions, and subcultures to create multidimensional works. For nearly two decades, he has produced electronic music under various aliases and has been featured in major cultural institutions and international festivals, including ICA, MoMA PS1, Berghain, Sonar, Unsound, and Transmediale.

About the project

INTERGALACTIC is a collective project developed by IED students from the campuses of Milan, Cagliari, Florence, Rome, Turin, Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, and Accademia Aldo Galli di Como.

The project brought together talents from various disciplines - Fashion Design, Sound Design, Graphic Design, Textile Design, Marketing, Visual Communication, Video, and Motion Graphics  - merging perspectives, skills, and creative visions into a unique collaborative journey.
