The designer has won the competition's main prize with ILO, her Final Degree Project, in an edition that also featured six other IED Kunsthal Bilbao alumni

The 39th edition of Getxo Moda, held on 28 and 29 October at Muxikebarri (Getxo), introduced Getxo Moda Lab, a new platform designed to support emerging talent, raise the profile of young designers and foster connections with the professional fashion industry.

As part of this initiative, IED Kunsthal Bilbao took part in the first edition with seven alumni from its Official Undergraduate Degree in Fashion Design, who graduated in 2024, 2025 and 2026. They presented collections developed as their Final Degree Projects on the catwalk. Among the participants, Ainhize Ganzabal was named the winner with ILO, a collection that explores the relationship between the body, space and surveillance through textile experimentation and unravelling techniques. As part of the award, ILO was also showcased on the main Getxo Moda catwalk, sharing the programme with Basque designers and internationally renowned designer Assaad Awad.

Alongside Ainhize, the participating alumni were Gaizka Albizu (Olympia), Mikel Cabeza (Perniger), Jon Unzueta (Palacio Rocobrutal), Zuriñe Berrueta (Tres mil ecos para una melodía), Ainara Arizabaleta (Punto final: aquí se rompió una taza) and Amaia Aguirre (Acaso estoy soñando).

Participation in Getxo Moda Lab also brought further recognition for the school: Ainhize Ganzabal and Gaizka Albizu were each awarded a scholarship by the Basque BioDesign Center to support the continued development of their projects.

Beyond the school's involvement in Getxo Moda Lab, third-year Fashion Design students also worked backstage at the fashion show, supporting its production and gaining first-hand experience of how a professional fashion show operates.
