The IED methodology: live tangible experiences in the fashion system through workshops, research and company visits for complete and concrete training.

IED education methodology represents a real “immersion” into fashion system.

Being part of a big school network, included in crucial districts of “made in Italy” production processes, IED courses are a unique opportunity for students to be involved, attracted into fashion production.

Communication or designing fashion, is not only a question of theory. Important fashion case-histories are analysed and studied in different educational experiences; focusing on innovative research, trends forecasting and craftsmanship values in fashion system.

The proposed methodology includes company visits, meeting with important professionals and experimental processes, structuring a multidisciplinary educational path for the future professionals as visual/product designers, marketing experts and advertising as well as buyers, photographers, video makers, fashion business strategists.

Thanks to direct contact with fashion market trends and product quality, we realize a real cross-fertilization between the different areas of fashion, per example communication and marketing sectors with design and business. This trans-disciplinary approach give the students a team working attitude, ready for a future placement in a working environment.

In particular organizing workshops and special research weeks, within IED educational calendar, the Institute creates a real dialectic structure with the “made in Italy” SMEs and fashion professionals. These joint research experiences, focusing on fashion design, styling and new communication strategies, represent an effective format creating a link between education and fashion business. This connection is a very important way to make the students aware of the importance cultural heritage included in Italian fashion system. The mission of this “learning by doing” methodology is to build “bridges” between academic education and the fashion world.
