Juan Vidal and Eñaut (IED Barcelona), together with IED Madrid alumni Carlota Barrera, Luis Berrendero, Ernesto Naranjo, ManéMané, Moisés Nieto and Sepiia, have received a total of eight nominations across five award categories

On 30 June, the Spanish fashion industry will celebrate its biggest night of the year with the third edition of the Spanish Fashion Academy Awards, held at the Gran Teatro Príncipe Pío in Madrid. Organised by the Spanish Fashion Academy Foundation (FAME) in collaboration with RTVE, the awards celebrate and recognise the diversity, creativity and talent that define Spain's fashion sector. 

Throughout the evening, the Academy will present eleven awards. IED has received eight nominations, reinforcing for the third consecutive year its position as a leading institution in education of the next generation of fashion designers. 

IED Madrid and IED Barcelona alumni and faculty receive eight nominations across five categories 

Among this year's nominees are Juan Vidal and Eñaut, Creative Director of IED Barcelona's School of Fashion and alumnus, respectively. IED Madrid is represented by alumni Moisés Nieto, Ernesto Naranjo, Luis Berrendero, Sepiia, Carlota Barrera and Miguel Becer (ManéMané), with Barrera and Becer also serving as faculty members. 

Juan Vidal stands out with nominations in three categories: Best Collection for Me quiere, no me quiere, Best Presentation: Runway Show for the same collection, and Best Presentation: New Formats for Le Théâtre des souliers. Carlota Barrera has received two nominations: Best Collection for From the Body's Edge and Best Presentation: New Formats for A Half-Tied Tie. In the latter category, Ernesto Naranjo and ManéMané have also been recognised for their collaborative project Naranjo + ManéMané

In the highly regarded Emerging Talent Award category, both Eñaut and Luis Berrendero, alumni of IED Barcelona and IED Madrid respectively, are among the nominees. 

Finally, Moisés Nieto and Sepiia are both nominated for the Sustainability and Innovation Award, with Spring Summer Denim and Sepiia Milestones in 2025, respectively. 

At the previous edition of the awards, IED received twelve nominations for eight alumni and faculty members. Mans, the brand founded by IED Madrid alumni Jaime Álvarez, won the Emerging Talent Award, while Juan Vidal was honoured with the Best Presentation: New Formats Award for his Bridal 2024 capsule collection.

WHO'S WHO? 

Carlota Barrera, an alumna and faculty member at IED Madrid, has received several prestigious recognitions, including the Vogue Fashion Fund Spain award in 2019 and the Spanish Fashion Academy Emerging Talent Award in 2024. 

Juan Vidal is the Creative Director of the eponymous brand that bears his name. His work is distinguished by technical excellence and a continuos exploration of feminine strenght through sensitivity and seduction. Throughout his career he has received numerous awards, including Who's On Next, the TELVA Best National Designer Award, the National Fashion Award presented by Spain's Ministry of Industry, and the 2025 Spanish Fashion Academy Award for Best Presentation: New Formats. 

Moisés Nieto founded his namesake label in 2011. One year later he won the EGO Award at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid for his collection Virginia. His career has since been recognised with the Who's On Next Vogue España Award (2016), the National Fashion Award (2017), and the Madrid Capital de Moda Award (2020). 

Ernesto Naranjo began his fashion design education at IED Madrid before continuing his studies at Central Saint Martins. In 2014 he won the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent Award and has been a finalist for Who's On Next in 2019, 2022 and 2024. 

Luis Berrendero, who graduated in Fashion Design from IED Madrid in 2009, has worked for renowned French fashion and haute couture houses including John Galliano, Balmain and Christian Dior. His creations have been worn by international figures such as Kendall Jenner, Katy Perry and Beyoncé. 

Federico Sainz de Robles is the founder of Sepiia, established in 2016. The brand launched its first production collection in 2018, the same year it joined the Residency Programme, where it received mentoring during its growth phase. Throughout its trajectory, the brand has earned several awards. 

Founded in 2018 by Eñaut Barruetabeña, Eñaut is a fashion label recognised for its minimalist aesthetic, meticulous attention to detail and ethical, sustainable creative philosophy. Barruetabeña is an IED Barcelona alumni and also teaches on the Master's Programme in Menswear Fashion Design. 

Miguel Becer, founder of ManéMané, teaches on the Master's Programme in Fashion Design at IED Madrid. His brand is known for its avant garde approach and its ability to reinterpret the codes of womenswear through experimental volumes and a distinctive aesthetic identity. 

The awards ceremony celebrating the very best of Spain's fashion industry will be broadcast live from 10:20 pm on La 2, TVE Internacional and RTVE Play. The red carpet coverage will also be streamed live from 6:00 pm.
